President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday at the Council Chambers swore in the Police Service Commission’s Chairman, ex-Inspector General of Police Solomon Arase.
Report also has it that Arase took the oath just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Arase, 65, who retired in 2016, took his oath of office at 10:05am with Vice-President Yemi Osibanjo (SAN), Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha and the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and other council members attending the brief ceremony.
Arase takes over from the former Chairman, ex-IGP Musiliu Smith who resigned in September 2022.
Report has it that on January 20, 2023 President Buhari had forwarded the name of Arase to the Senate for consideration in a letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
