Dr Betta Edu, reaffirmed her commitment to pulling 50 million Nigerians out of poverty within 42 months. 

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, reaffirmed her commitment to the implementation of policies and programmes aimed at pulling 50 million Nigerians out of poverty within 42 months.

According to a statement issued by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Mr Rasheed Zubair, Dr Edu, during a meeting held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, with members of the staff of the Ministry, the present administration’s resolve towards giving vulnerable Nigerians a new lease of life.

To achieve this, the Minister disclosed that in the coming weeks, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, will flag off many more social intervention schemes, including the ‘End Hunger and Code Nigeria programme’, ‘Grow Nigeria’, and revitalise most programmes under the ministry and its agencies.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister tasked all the staff and stakeholders with the need for renewed vigour to enable the administration to meet the set target of pulling millions of Nigerians out of poverty and humanitarian challenges.

While soliciting collaboration, cooperation, and support geared towards pulling vulnerable Nigerians out of poverty.

“She reiterated President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s commitment to eradicating poverty and reducing humanitarian challenges within the life of his administration.

“And today, the 2nd of January 2024, we are back in the office working. The reason is simple: We must deliver on our mandate.

We have a mandate to pull 50 million Nigerians out of the city within 42 months, and all of us must commit to it,” the minister said.
