INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Monday assured the Labour Party’s Legal Team that INEC will provide all requested documents.
He stated “I crave your indulgence to let your team interface with the legal team of the commission immediately, so you work these things out and then we make all the documents available to you. But please be assured the legal counsel, that INEC has nothing to hide. Whatever you’re asking for will be made available to you. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily.”
He further said, “You will get the documents speedily; you will also make arrangements to notify our electoral commission of your intending visit so that these documents will be made available to you at the state level including access to inspection of any category of materials documents.”
The Labour Party’s Legal Team was at the INEC HQ on a short notice to discuss modalities for obtaining the documents.
